Two In One

This is the card that I created for Jen del Muro's challenge and for Cammie's Alzheimers Thank You Card challenge.

Cammie is giving away over $1000 in prizes for one lucky winner! Checkout her blog .

Cammie's wonderful freinds at ScorPal and The Cat's Pajamas, along with many others have donated some wonderful gifts.

My grandfather who recently passed away in May from cancer had been battling Alzheimers as well, so this challenge is very near to me. After reading what Cammie said, I have been thinking about how our whole family took for granite our grandma during these difficult years. No one ever thanked her for spending every waking minute looking after grandpa. I didn't realize how much she gave up to care for him. We never thought about what shehad to of gone through each day, I just thought of grandpa. So grandma will be getting this wonderful card to let her know how much she means to all of us.

Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge

Well, I first want to apologize for the crooked scan, but I was cornered by all four kids and just didn't feel like redoing it.

Beate has challenged us with another wonderful sketch. I used a 5x5 card base this time, which is rare for me, but I couldn't get what I wanted on a regular size card.

I used Real Red, Basic Black and Whisper White....designer paper, medium sized white brads, black & white gingham ribbon, white gel pen and the diamond CuttleBug template.

I love this new stamp set...Upsy Daisy, I mixed it with the butterfly from Garden Whimsy.

Now off to work on a Thank You card for Cammie's challenge.

Jen's Sketch Challenge

Okay, so I don't have any Bella Stamps....but I loved the sketch so I thought I would still play along. I love this stamp set, but find it hard to use for some reason....I used Close to Cocoa, Cameo Coral and Old Olive....WOW what a great color combo this is.

Also, I just want to say how much I love the new scallop edge punch! How did we survive so long with out it.

Beate's Weekend Challenge

This is for Beate's weekend challenge.....I just love this stamp set, it is so versatile.

I used Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Not Quite Navy...I love the CuttleBug, what a great touch these templates add to your cards....also used twill tape, pewter brads and word frame, word window punch and white gel pen.

My niece left for college a couple of weeks ago and this stamp set reminds me of her so much, she is greatly missed by all of the kids and me too! But I am so proud of her and excited for her too! I am going to have to re create this card in her school colors and drop her a little HELLO full of hugs.

OCC Weekend Challenge

Well I am running a bit behind on all of the challenges...but here is what I created for Amy's awesome sketch.

I used Close to Cocoa, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, and Brillant Blue. Shes all That stamp set with the three flower punch and pumpkin gross grain ribbon.

Welcome Baby

Just had some free time while the girls were napping and Jacob was playing the Wii....I am trying to fill my card supply and decided to work on the baby section. Here is what I got done.
I bought this stamp set last weekend at Archivers, I was shopping for printed papers and ended up with a bunch of new stamp sets instead of paper.

Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge

For this weekend's sketch challenge by Beate....

The scan really lightened my colors...I used Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Whisper White and Pretty In Pink.....the ribbon is pink and white, pink, white and brown prima flowers...paisley and polka dots Cuttlebug templates...white gel pen to do the faux stitching.

I love the way this turned out....and I really like the size of the card, it gives you lots of room to do stuff. Thanks Beate for another fabulous sketch!

Jacob's First Day of School

Well Jacob started Kindergarten two weeks ago, but I am just getting around to uploading pictures...

Its official - Mom's heart has broke!! I can remember when I was pregnant with him, they did several ultrasounds and could never tell if he was a boy or girl.....all I kept saying was I wanted a girl, I didn't want a boy and my heart was set on I thank God everyday for this wonderful little man! For those mom's of boys I am sure you can understand - there is something about your son that melts your heart. Now he is so independent and needs mommy less and less, that I just don't want to send him to school. My best friend cracks up at that statement because she says that I am a working mom, what difference does it make if hes at home during the day...its simply that he is now a BIG KID!

Well off to stamp - I didn't pick up a single stamp all week, talk about withdrawals!

Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge

Heres the card I created for Beate's sketch challenge...this was for some reason difficult for me...I think it was because I had to cut the side of the circles off, but really not sure exactly what....

I am really running low on paper stock, so I have found myself using colors I normally don't use and I am very pleased with them.

Well off to more stamping and laundry....I made a vow to myself to stay out of the stores until we get into our new that means a lot of stamping to keep my mind busy...

Friday Night Stampin!

Okay, so I posted in the wrong is the card I made last night....I used black, basic gray and not quite navy....this stamp set is just so adorable.....I love the way these colors POP against each other....LOL, I just noticed that my scan is slanted!

OCC Weekend Challenge Card

For this weekend's challenge over at Our Creative Corner...color combo: Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red and Old Olive, use Chocolate Chip as an optional color..... Well I had one small piece of scrap Old Olive left, so I used a lot of Chocolate Chip for this card....which is okay with me, I love brown!

I really wish I had a new digital camera, cause the scanner just doesn't give you the same effect...I actually have all of the leaves popped from the card base.

I know I am behind in times, but I just have to say that I love my new Cuttle, it really gives your cards a little extra something...but with four kids, its hard to have spare change.

Sunday, August 17, 2008

This is for Jen del Muro's Something For You To Try sketch (above). The star could be any image or embellishment you wanted to use....See her great example here

For my card I used the last of my In Colors Blue Bayou and Soft Sky....I love this stamp set , Garden Whimsy...but I always have a hard time when I use it.

Now off to work on the TECC29 challenge, this one really has me thinking.

OCC Weekend Challenge Card

For this weekend's sketch challenge over at Our Creative Corner.....I used Blossoms Abound stamp set, Sage Shadow, Choclate Chip, and Very Vanilla cardstock....Vanilla and Chocolate gross grain ribbon, pewter brads....

This is such a great sketch, cause you can change it to use with any stamp set.

So Many Scallops

Okay, so I got my new scallop punch earlier this week and have found it tobe my new best you ever find that you do something different on one card and like it so much that you start to use it on every card you make? I think that might be called "Card Rutt" or maybe "Layout Rutt"

Anyways, I loved it on this card when I folded the brown scallop over the edge that I made the orange one on it. So then I did it again on the next card and the next card. So I have taken a break from card making for awhile. For this one I used Pumpkin Pie, Apricot Appeal and Chocolate Chip...may I say this is an awesome color combo!!! I also used the wide brown gross grain ribbon, white gel pen and small oval punch. for the Thank You sentiment I used the word window punch. Sponge Daubers for the filler on the white.

Now to the second card....Soft Sky, Groovy Gauva and Chocolate Chip...I love the way this card turned out and can't wait for someone's birthday to come along.....

Not sure where all of this stamp time came from, but I was able to spend a tone of time yesterday and today by myself stamping....a few vistors stopped by once in awhile to say hi and make sure I hadn't left them, but no one chose to stick around....I think I have to give all my thanks to the recent purchase of the Nintendo Wii.....We finally gave in and bought one and the kdis play really well together on it....Sofia loves to stand and watch, thats unusual isn't it??

Okay I can smell that the oven is ready for the have a great Sunday afternoon.

Our Creative Corner Weekend Challenge

This weekend's challenge on OCC was to do a Christmas in July card. Well I couldn't bring myself to get out the red and green together, so I went somewhere I have always claimed never to go - BLUE for Christmas. In all the years I have hated seeing blue used as a Christmas color, why I don't know but it has always bugged me. But I have to say that I love how this turned out.

I used Soft Sky, Whisper White and Chocolate Chip cardstock and inks. One small piece of vellum, 2 pewter brads, soft sky double stitched gross grain ribbon, white gel pen and the scallop punch and small oval punch. I think this would have come out a lot better with out the added flowers, but I was on a roll and couldn't stop myself - sometimes more is too much!

Weekend Challenge Card

I combined Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge with SplitCoast's LSC172 Challenge (Use Knots Somewhere on your Card). The colors are Blue Bayou, Sky Blue andWhisper White. I used the striped and harelquin designer paper from Stampin Up in Blue Bayou. Sky Blue double stitched gross grain ribbon and a white gel pen. I stamped the flower images in Blue Bayou and then to fill the petals in I tapped a blender pen into the Blue Bayou stamp pad and brushed onto the cardstock. This was pretty simple and quick card - I have to work today, so I was in a hurry.

Beate's Weekend Challenge Card

This is the card I created last night for Beate's weekend challenge. I was so delighted to come across her blog, she is extremely talented. I am on my way out the door and wanted to get in on the fun, so not too much to say right now.

Princess Color Combo Challenge

This week's Color Combo Challenge on Splitcoast, was Certainly Celery, blue Bayou & Soft is what I came up with....I ended up really loving this combo and think I will use it often.

It's Been Awhile!!!!

Okay, so as I was doing laundry this morning, I realized that I hadn't stamped all week, that I hadn't even gotten on SplitCoast and looked at the daily, have I been pre-occupied.

So wow - how did I survive without my daily stress relief at night??? I think because I just passed out. Things at work have been so hectic all week and I have been bringing work home every night and staying up till close til midnight to get it done. And Thursday night I was in the ER with Jacob all night!

Anyways, hopefully this week will bring lots of happy stamping!

This card was inspired by Tuesday's Color Combo Challenge, Certainly Celery; Pretty In Pink and Chocolate Chip! I love brown, so this wasn't much of a challenge, so I picked a stamp set that I rarely use (actually this is the second time I have used it).

A Few Cards

These are just a few cards I worked on this week.....

Birthday Card

Well this photo came out a little bit better, but I think I have to buy a new digital camera....
I was actually able to stamp today, I can't believe it! Most of my stamping is done late at night once all the kids have passed out....but today I managed to get them all to nap at the same time....Amber was at her friends house! YIPEE for me....
Anyways, my supply of cards was running low, so I just made this card for the Birthday section. I used the Birthday Best set from Stampin up.

Thank You Card for Co-Worker

First, I wish my photo was better, you really don't get the whole feel from this.....
I needed a Thank You card for a co-worker at our corporate office in Wisconsin, who has been giving me so much help lately.
This is the designer paper pack in Stampin Up's current mini catalog...I cut it into four small rectangles and layered on to Certainly Celery cardstock. On the two end rectangles, I folded up the ends so that the polka dotted side would show and placed a brad to hold. Then I tied my ribbon around it. Next I did the flower in the oval, cut my white oval with the Coluzzle ( Can I just say I love this tool), then I eyed the bashful blue and certainly celery ovals. I didn't want such a thick layer on these. I stamped the flower image in celery and used a versmark marker and colored with my bashful blue ink pad the petals. I used stampin deminsionals to adhere the oval. Then I attached the pewter frame. Then layered all of that on to Bashful Blue and then onto Always Artichoke. Then with the three flower punch, placed all the little flowers everywhere. On some of them I placed a small white circle in the middle. I did this with the Crop A Dile, eyelet punch side.I finished with some faux sticthing around the flower and on the Bashful Blue layer.
I hope she likes it!

Thank You Card

For this card I stamped the large bloom from the Friendship Blooms stamp set onto several pieces of designer paper and a solid piece of Groovy Gauva. Then I cut each flower out and glued to a small strip of Groovy Gauva. Then placed that onto a piece of striped designer paper and then layered onto a solid piece of Wild Wasabi. I layered that onto Groovy Gauva and the card itself is Chocolate Chip. I wrapped it with double stitched gross grain ribbon in gauva and wasabi. Then with sticky strip I placed a small piece of the gauva ribbon on an angle at the top of the card. On top of that I punched out a piece of chocolate chip with the Designer Label punch and then in Groovy Gauva I punched a small oval and stamped with "Thank You" in chocolate chip. With a white gel pen, I added all of the faux stitching, I love the effect this gives the card.
You can't see in my scan, but the petals on all of the flowers are sticking up off of the card.
I am very pleased with the way this card turned out. I think I am going to give to a friend at work who has really been helping me out lately.

Baby Boy Card

I don't know why, but for some reason I have been itching to make a baby card all day today....Hope That Doesn't Mean Anything! LOL.

Well I used several stamp sets to make this card....I have also been trying to use printed paper in my cards lately...the stripes and polka dots are from the Hostess' Print Pack.

I really like the way that the black makes the blue pop....Amber says that its not a baby card since I used black, but I am really pleased with the way it turned out.

I also wanted to post an update on the kids....Rylee's arm is doing really well, we have been very busy visiting the Physical Therapist. She lost the side to side rotation, but they think with the therapy she will be able to get it back, Thank God for her youth.

Amber is preparing for a long field trip to Jefferson City, our state capitol, with her school, we are also preparing for April Showers with her Girl Scout Troop, this is where the girls hang plastic bags on doors and the next week pick them back up after they have been filled with donations of femine products and baby products for the Girl Scouts to donate to the needy.

As most of yoy are aware, my little Jacob boy has a speech impetament, and we have received some not so good news this week. The school district does not think that he has progressed enough to go into Kindegarton with the rest of the kids next fall....they want him to go to a special class room in another school district that is strictly for children with speech problems....for him it would probably be a good thing for the long haul, but I just was hoping he would be able to do everything like normal with his friends from preschool.....

I have saved the best for last.....Sofia has started walking around holding onto the furniture, wow has she grown so fast. She is such an amazing baby.

She's Fabulous

Well I just love this new set by Stampin is great!

I used Blue Bayou, Soft Sky and Basic Black cardstock....I stamped the card with Paisley background and then the small piece of Sky Blue with Print Pattern background.

Now, just need someone to get pregnant, so I can send this card.

Easter Stampin? - WOW!

WOW, I can't believe it....I actually got to stamp last night...a lot!

I was able to create three cards with out the kids bugging! So this is my faorite one, to see the other two go to Split Coast Stampers and take a look in my gallery:

I used Real Red, Basic Black and Whisper White Card Stock....Print Pack paper....and the Perfect Princess Stamp Set.....Not much to the details....except that I didn't have a black word frame, so I took black embossing powder and heat gunned it to turn a pewter one black....

Brother's Birthday

Well today I get to see my little brother, 27 years old, for the first time since Christmas.....For some people that may not seem like very long, but for us it is....We grew up everyday together and were best friends. Then when we hit 18 we took different paths....and hardly get to talk or see each other....I am a year older than him, and I was the one that left home on bad terms....but anyways things have turned around....I left and started my family and he left and went to school.....Now he is managing a bunch of workout gyms in Missouri and is a professional body builder....he gets to travel the country and isn't always home for family events.....He was just out in California meeting with Arnold Schwartzanegger (?)....someone he always looked up to.....So anyways back to the card:

I always find it hard to make a masculine I went with Wild Wasabi, River Rock and Chocolate Chip....I stamped the main cardstock with the Print Pattern BG stamp, but I did it sideways....Then for the main white section I used wasabi and river rick to stamp the "Cheers To You" all over it...then with Chocolate Chip I stamped "Brother" all I layered that with a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock and fauxed sticthed the I did the birthday cake in Wild Wasabi and cut it out....I have yet to purchase the scallop punch....I layered it on River Rock and Wasabu card stock...I fauxed stitched the corners of River Rock and the whole part of the Wasabi....Next I took wide gross grain ribbon in brown and then wasabi and river rock double stitched gross grain ribbon and tied around the main image....adhered the main image to the card and then with pop up glue dots, adhered the birthday cake piece....then with brown cardstock used the photo corner punch and fauxed stitched with a pewter word frame stamped "Wish Big" and attached that to the attached brads to the other corners of the card.

I really like the way this one turned out...I know he will too!

Another Blossoms Abound Card

I needed to make a great card for a dear friend at work who is going through some hard times.....

First I stamped the Wild Wasabi with the Print Pattern BG stamp.....then I used Not Quit Navy to do the blooms, to get the two tone effect with these - stamp the solid image and then stamp it off, on the top image do not stamp off - I used Wild Wasabi for the leaves too.....

Next, with a stipple brush I filled in the white of the image piece with Not Quit Navy...I layer with Wild Wasabi and then with a larger piece of Not Quit Navy....stamped "My Frien" on the larger section and then fauxed stitched the corners. Then added the buckled and double stitched ribbon.

Last, with a photo corner punch in Not Quit Navy, I fayxed stitched those corners, too......I really love the way this turned out and can not wait to give to "My Friend".

"Ways To Use It" Challenge

This week's Ways to Use It Challenge was to not use any tools.....I stamped the main image in chocolate chip and then kissed it with a floral stampin round wheel in Versamark.....I love that technique. I did use a stipple brush around teh corners and then fauxed stitched the frame...chocolate chip wide gross grain ribbon with teal regular gross grain ribbon layed on top.

I used the fram from the To Have and To Hold stamp set and cut the inside out.

Chalkboard Technique

This is my first attempt at the Chalkboard technique....this is a really quick and easy way to give your card a different effect....simply stamp a solid image in white craft ink, then while still wet brush with Stampin pastel chalks...let dry. There is no need to seal the image since the craft ink grabs the chalks well. You do have to use a dark colored cardstock though.

Then I layered with Wild Wasabi cardstock and faux stitched the edges. Then on the white cardstock, I used the Happy Birthday phrase from Bitty Birthday in Wild Wasabi ink...I used sticky strip to place the two pieces of double stitched gross grain ribbon to it...Then I made a tie with the ribbon and glued it to the bottom piece of ribbon. Then, used a photo corner punch and faux sticthed those and the corners of the card......I really like the final product.

Color Combo Challenge

This weeks color combo challenge was to use Purely Pomegrante with Basick Black and always you can use whisper white too.....I had to throw in the Always Artichoke as the stems, I tried stamping them the first time in gray, but I didn't like it......

Using the Blossoms Abound stamp set, which is two step stamping.....first I inked the background blossoms in Pomegrante, then stamped on scratch paper, then on my card piece, this gives it a lighter two-dimensional look. Then stamped the next blossom on top of it, fully inked.

Did the Stems in Always Artichoke, fully inked and stamped off the leaves in Always Artichoke. Next I used a spone dauber to blot black around the edge of the paper piece. I then layered it and did the faux stitching with a white gel pen.

I was wishing that the UPS man had come yesterday so that I could have my lacey ribbon for this card, but no would have looked so much more elegant.

These challenges really get you thinking outside the box.

Teething....What's A Mom to Do?

Well no card making yet tonight.....Sofie is having a FIT.....she has been crying for about an hour now and I don't know what to do with her....I sure wish that tooth would just come in.....maybe after she falls asleep, I'll get to stamp.

Color Combo Challenge

Here is the card I did for this week's color combo challenge on Splitcoast Stampers.....I stamped each flower image and then cut them out, put a brad as the center of the pomegrante one...the colors used are Wild Wasabi, So Saffron and Purely Pomegrante....I love the print pack designs this time...the stripes and florals go together great.....I love being able to fold the corner down, it adds a nice touch......

If you are a stamp aholic and have not visted, you must go there and check it out.......there are a ton of ideas, techniques and a great place to make stampin friends....they also have these challenges everyday, which really help to widen your ideas.

My Friend Card

This is the card that I worked on while Amber and Jacob were visiting grandpa and grandma and the little girls were napping........

I used the Blossoms Abound stamp set. Cardstock - Always Artichoke, River Rock, Purely Pomegrante and Very Vanilla.....for the blossoms I did River Rock first and then Pomegrante. I did the cracked glass technique to the "My Friend" square. This didn't work quite as well as I wanted, but overall I am satisfied. I think I needed to emboss one more layer. That or the piece was just too small. I love the new In Color colors this catalog, they are great for florals.....

Oh, I have to metion that you will see this stamp set a is my FAVORITE.

My First Post on My New Blog

Well this is a whole new thing for me......Hopefully this will be useful for me and provide good ideas for my friends and visitors....I just want to start with a bit on me and my crazy but wonderful life.....

If you are a mom then you will understand the crazyness that I stated and y seeing the most important thing in my life are my 4 kids....Amber is 10 and from my previous relationship....she is becoming a teenager overnight and sometimes I question if her and I will make it to see her 11th birthday. She thinks she knows everything and of course nothing goes her way. She is the most accident prone child I have ever met......We have gone through so much with her in the past few months....on her birthday, late November, at her party she fell against the bed and split her chin open had to go to the ER.....on Christmas morning she was rollerskating in the kitchen and fell, broke her front tooth completely in half.....and today jammed her toe on the door! these are just a few things that we have gone through. Jacob is 5 and David and I's first baby......he has a speech inpetament and is hard to understand, but is the most intelligent 5 year old I know......he loves the WWE, wrestling and Transformers, I never knew that when I became a mom that I would also learn how to do a backbreaker and turn into a robot in a split second.....but for him I would do anything......Rylee is 3 and she is, in her mind, a real life PRINCESS.....this girl is so obsessed with the Disney Princesses that there is not a inch of space in our house that does not have Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel or Sleeping Beauty in it. She just broke her arm last week, what an adventure that was.....she had to have surgery so that they could pin the elbow back together......but they don't make them tougher than her.....I know that I would be screaming if I had to go through what she did.....the only thing she complained about was when she woke up after the surgery and looked at the cast and it was purple....she said to me "I wanted PINK." Who'd of known that the hospital wouldn't have a pink cast.....and then there is Sofia, she is 9 months old.....crawling, and exploring is all there is to say right now...oh yeah, she loves the computer!

David and I have lived together for 6 years here in St. Louis. I have always lived here and David is from Baltimore......we live across the street from my sister for now. We are looking to move to a bigger space! I am a Insurance agent assistant by day and a stamper by night. I joined Stampin Up almost 2 years ago and right before SOfie was born I quit to be a stay at home mom for a while. Now just last month I rejoined.
